Dear Friends and Supporters:

Hooray! -   some sunshine graced our skies us as we celebrated  America’s 223rd Independence Day -  a day that reminds us to reflect on the liberties and freedoms secured for us by our past and present patriots.  I hope that you were fortunate enough to enjoy the day’s celebratory barbecues, parades and fireworks with your family and friends.

I am glad that you have signed up to be on my e-mail list. I will be keeping everybody updated on campaign activities, so stay tuned!

The legislature is adjourned now until January, but let’s review the disaster results! Under a Democratic majority, the legislature and Governor passed into law a budget that increased spending by over 6.5%. Now ask yourself: Has your personal income gone up an average of 6.5% over the past two years? I am sure that like me, you answered with a resounding NO!  In fact, from 2006 through 2009 and into the new budget there have been a total of 67 new or increased taxes and fees! Unfortunately, already overburdened taxpayers are now saddled with sacrificing even more of their hard earned money to feed the spending beast in Concord.

But do not think that the Democrats will stop with the tax increases they just passed; they keep a “tax satchel” - a temporary resting place for tax bills that failed. Yes, you can be assured that the Democrats will once again try to pass a capital gains tax, a “death” tax, a gasoline tax increase, and an increase in the beer tax.

Do we have a Spending problem in Concord - YES!!  Do we have a Revenue problem in Concord - NO!!  The Democratic gang in Concord continues to beat struggling New Hampshire families with tax and fee increases, like the proverbial dead horse. We can’t take it anymore.

That is why I am running for the District 16 State Senate seat. I have a principled belief that LOW TAXES RESULT FROM LOW SPENDING.

I will work to restore “common sense” in the spending habits of the New Hampshire legislature. I always have and always will vote against any broad base tax including an income or sales tax - we already have enough revenue to meet our obligations. I also plan to submit legislation in the next biennium to repeal the new 9% “tent tax” and the new 5% interest and dividend tax on small businesses (LLCs). In these difficult economic times, faced with rising unemployment, we need to encourage small businesses, rather than increasing their tax burden.
